I agree. I have a friend who was one of five women to win a national award for a book she wrote, and she said that not a single woman had a degree in writing. I think the rules can be constricting too and that sometimes writing teachers can do more harm than good. Teachers of any art tread deep waters because you can ruin a natural talent with too much pedantry.
